
World Environment Day
Agragami Pre-University College has a vision to produce noble & global citizens. APU actualizes this vision eventually with each activity. Celebration of World Environment Day is one such chain. The World Environment Day on 5th June 2024 was celebrated in a meaningful way by the PU Department by adopting the theme for 2024 # "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience".
It's tied in with bringing back healthy land, keeping desserts from developing, and managing water shortages.
“This theme highlighted the importance of restoring degraded land, combating desertification, and building resilience to drought. The primary aim of World Environment Day 2024 was to drive global action and commitment towards a more sustainable and resilient future for our planet. In today’s world environment needs our focused, intense & urgent attention as the world faces environmental issues & problems.
The environment is the most precious gift to humans on this planet. Today we need to focus on the importance of the environment and to remind ourselves that nature shouldn’t be taken for granted. The day also reminds us of various measures and steps to be taken to protect our environment.
Our environment is one of the most important aspects to survive on this planet. Celebrating the day under the observation of the event department of APU had organized a Tree Plantation Drive on 5th June 2024 at the campus.
The event was graced by the Principal Dr. Sushmitha K madam, as well as the faculty and staff members including Students. Many different flowering plants were planted, students and faculty members enthusiastically participated in the following drive. Students also took the pledge to constantly take care of the planted plants.
AGRI EDUCATION FAIR
The University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot had organized Agri Education Fair at College of Horticulture, UHS Campus, GKVK, Bengaluru as recommended by the National Higher Education Programme (NAHEP)-IDP, UHS, Baglakot. The programme was scheduled from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.Our students were informed to attend this fair as instructed and accompanied by Ms.Sandhya ma’am,Physics Lecturer on 19th June 2024,Wednesday with the aim to educate the students about the importance and significance of Agriculture/Horticulture and to create awareness in the students about the career opportunities in farm sciences. It was informed that the entry would be only for 10 students from a college.
To make agricultural education responsive to the growing and changing needs of the society in general and aspirations of the farming community in particular. To establish a dynamic system of agricultural education to train highly skilled and competent manpower to address the challenging tasks with new emerging areas of research, extension and industry.
In order to reach the knowledge and technology to the students on a wider scale by training them on recent advances in the respective fields through subject matter specialists.
The programme was carried out by the lecture about Agri/Horticulure by professional experts.The sessions also included with field and lab visits in the campus.The Students were provided with refreshments after the session.


ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
Our College organized an Orientation programme for the I PUC students on 19th July 2024 in the college. The programme began with a prayer song invoking God's blessings.
The main aim of the program is to bring awareness among parents and students about the college campus,College rules and regulations PU Board curriculum. Students and parents were introduced to the vision and mission of the college by our Principal.
The rules and regulations of the college were read out by our Principal Dr.Sushmitha K ma’am laying emphasis on certain rules regarding discipline also welcomed the audience and briefed them about the functioning and different activities in the college.Mrs.Preeti Huggi ma’am,Lecturer in Computer Science compered the program.Ms.Rashmi R,Lecturer in Commerce proposed the vote of thanks. Refreshments were given to parents and students as well.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
Yoga Day is celebrated among the youth and children to make them understand the importance of Yoga in their life. It helps the students understand how to maintain harmony between body and mind.
The International Yoga day was celebrated by the students and the teachers of Agragami Pre- university college with great enthusiasm .The function began with a brief introduction of Yoga Day by our Principal Dr.Sushmitha K ma’am and Principal of AICAMS Dr. Shobha Devi ma’am .A brief introduction of our Chief Guest Deepak T J,Certified Yoga trainer.The Yoga instructor was accompanied by our Physical instructor Sudhakara sir.
‘Yoga in the life of youngsters’
The Chief Guest addressed the students that regular practice of Yoga will help the students achieve better mental and physical health. The Yoga trainer commenced Yoga demonstrations with the Yoga prayer. After which a few warm up and simple Asanas were performed by the students and the teachers enthusiastically and the importance of these Asanas was explained simultaneously by yoga instructor.The students were educated that the International Yoga Day is a gift to the world by PM Modi, who put forward proposal on 11th December 2014 in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which was accepted by 193 Nations.
21st June is since been celebrated as International Yoga day. The Yoga instructor encouraged the students to practice Yoga and meditation on a regular basis for a healthy body and mind. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Preeti Huggi mam. The students were given refreshments after the yoga session.The function was organised by our management,Principal along with all the faculties and substaff who put in a lot of effort to make the function a success.


FRESHER’S DAY & TALENT’S DAY
Every student eagerly awaits right from their time of admission for their most remarkable event of the college “FRESHER’S & TALENT’S DAY”,18th of July 2024 was a memorable day in the life of every fresher of the academic year 2024-2025 batch.The fresher’s day was filled with excitement,joy, music,enthusiasm,laughter and happiness.
It is the day where seniors and juniors finally bond and unite to celebrate being part of the college. Students were welcomed with so much of enthusiasm which was organized by Department of PUC.
As a trend of the institute, the party began with the auspicious prayer to almighty God,which is considered as very sacred and symbol of prosperity. The occasion was graced by the presence of our Chairman ,Vice- Chairman& Trustees, Principal, all faculty members and sub staff and our dear students.
The students of the academic year 2023-2024 were awarded and recognized for their academic curriculum with medals and certificates.The students who had participated in olympaid exams were also awarded.
Our Principal Dr. Sushmitha K ma’am addressed the gathering with her inspiring words.The vote of thanks given by Sandhya ma’am.
The event is an indication of union among students with Pulsating ambience, flashing lights and foot-tapping music, set the mood of the party right.The excitement augmented to a joyful high as performances graced the stage.The dance floor was left open for the fresher’s to showcast their skills and talents through their unbridled energy.Joy and happiness could be seen among students of each and every course at the college.
INDEPENDENCE DAY


TRAFFIC & SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Traffic Safety and awareness is important topic dealt with in today’s busy life. The college events and circular activity club had conducted seminar by inviting the chief guests from Traffic Warden Organization Shri. Ramesh Naidu Sir and Shri. Antony Devassy Sir on 03/09/2024 from 12:30PM to 2:30PM.
Shri. Ramesh Naidu Sir owns a company named Nandini Natura Coatings and he was a former Peenya Industrial estate chief Finance Officer.
Shri. Antony Devassy Sir, works as Release Manager at Unisys. He teaches mother tongue to kids during weekends, he is also an active blood donor at all major hospitals and is recently he was been felicitated by Red cross India by Health Minister GunduRao Sir and Ex deputy chief minister Ashwath Sir at MLA womens college, Malleswaram.
The guests were welcomed by our Principal Dr. Sushmitha K. madam with a memento and bouquet.
Shri. Antony Devassy Sir guided our students on traffic rules to be followed while driving the vehicles. He shared some real life experiences with students. Students were prompted to tell the emergency numbers used in day today life in emergency situations.
The session was very interactive and students enjoyed the session a lot.
ESSAY COMPETITION
Essay Competition has always been to encourage critical thinking and exploration of a wide range of thought provoking and creative minds.In our college we encourage our students to grab all the opportunities.
On account of 155th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji, District level Essay Competition was conducted at Sheshadripuram PU College, Yelahanka on 09th September 2024 at 1.30 p.m.Our students of II PUC named Chandana and Prarthana were sent to participate in the essay competition at the nodal centre.It was addressed that the three qualified students will be selected to district level from each nodal centre who performed best in this competition.The students were given 1 hour time duration to complete the essay on their respective topics.It was mentioned that Essay could be written in English or Kannada.The students were informed to wear College ID card compulsorily.The required materials would be provided by the nodal centre for the participants as mentioned.
Essay competition was conducted in our college on 01st October 2024,on the occasion of 155th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji as the state government initiated towards “A cleaner, greener Bengaluru”. The students participated and wrote essays in English, Kannada and Hindi languages.
The essay topics were as follows:

- The ways to adopt Mahatma Gandhiji’s principles in my life.
- Clean India,Green India.
